LAPPA website moved to new location

We have moved LAPPA website from LSU-HSC to LSU-BR. We thank IT personnel (Jason Edelen) at Shreveport for their assistance in this move. Since the old site needed updates, we used the opportunity to move the data to a different template. Hope you like the look. Be sure to comment/suggest improvements.

The new site can be accessed at
http://lappa.lsu.edu

or http://www.lappa.us

Inform your colleagues about this move. If they are have not received updates about the Fall 2010 meeting, this blog, or the new website, they should contact us at lappa@lsu.edu.

We will update the jobs link, when we develop a better way to aggregate postings at common Louisiana HR sites. Also, the photo gallery will be updated after the current set of images are collated.

We have requested Shreveport to redirect all traffic to LAPPA site to http://www.lappa.us . We will have SRAPPA update its Louisiana link to the current site.

Help! Some of the information/links may be archaic. Please review the site for inaccuracies/broken links etc and update the admin here or at lappa@lsu.edu . We hope to cleanup the site by the Fall 2010 meeting.

Message from Stan Silverii - Fall Agenda

September 15, 2010

Hello LAPPA Members:

Due to the unforeseen and disappointing circumstances of Chris Sampitec and Bruce Ayres no longer being employed in our system, adjustments to the positions they held will be necessary by our Board.  I know we all wish them well in their future endeavors. On August 20, the Board met to discuss the Fall 2010 Conference.  Thanks to Ray Dudley and Grambling State University for accepting to host the conference.  Please find the agenda below for the upcoming conference in October.

Also, thanks to Paul Favaloro and Sai Pinnepalli, Ph.D. Assistant Director, IT at LSU for their efforts in assisting with the LAPPA web site. Sai is currently working on the huge task of getting the website updated.  Please respond to his e-mail in order to update current members and contact information.  If you know anyone at your facility or another education facility that is interested in being added to the list, please have them e-mail their contact information to Sai.  We are trying to increase our membership this year.

Once again, thanks to the Board Members that took time from there busy schedules to attend the Board Meeting.  Remember to visit the website for more information on the upcoming conference.

Sincerely,

Stan Silverii

Web site and electronic communication

LSU, Shreveport had been maintaining the LAPPA site for the past few years. After Satish's departure from LSU Shreveport, the site's maintenance has been ignored. LSU will takeover the responsibility of maintaining the web site.

We thank Satish for his efforts during his tenure as webmaster for LAPPA.

We are discussing various options for site maintenance. IT at Shreveport is making arrangements to handover data to LSU. When the new site is setup, we'll broadcast the info to all LAPPA members. We are making arrangements to obtain domain such as lappa.org (or lappa.us) to dissociate the site's website from any one member institution.

We will also be maintaining a list of all members at lappa-l@listserv.lsu.edu. This will prevent the need for users to maintain this list independently. This list will only be used for broadcast purposes. Other than the current lappa committee and webmaster, no one else should use this list.

In addition, we have started this blog http://lappa-talk.blogspot.com . This blog should help us maintain info about conversations and news pertinent to LAPPA community. Most of the information here will be informal. Please feel free to follow and participate in conversations.

Please contact Sai Pinnepalli (sai@lsu.edu) for additional information regarding the web site or the mailing list.

Thanks.

Picking up from where we left off!

Hi there! For the last two years we have not been able to meet or organize conferences. Budget woes affected most of the higher education related organizations in Louisiana. That, however, has not affected the mission that we are tasked with. We have also noticed that the  LAPPA website at the current location was not accurate. To address these and other facility related the following LAPPA officers met at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge on 8/20/2010
  • Stan Silverii
  • Michael Guidry
  • Paul Favaloro
  • Ken Howe
  • Ray Dudley
The group discussed following items
  • Next LAPPA meeting and location
  • Website management
  • Update list of LAPPA officers
  • LAPPA charter development
Details about each of these items will be posted soon. Highlights are
  • Next meeting will be hosted at Grambling University
  • Website will be managed by Sai Pinnepalli at LSU
  • With the departure of some of the members from their current jobs, vacancies need to be addressed
  • LAPPA will consult with APAA/SRAPPA and finalize the charter
